WARIA also has a long tradition of working closely with the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) and the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI.org). The founder of Enix Consulting, Derek Miers, was an early member of the WfMC and Co-Chairman of BPMI.org (prior to its merger with the OMG).

As part of the merger with OMG, the work of BPMI split into two halves. Related work on specifications has merged with an existing OMG Task Force (the newly named Business Modeling and Integration Domain Task Force (BMIDTF)), while the educational and market engagement aspects of BPMI are now to be driven by a new BPMI Steering Committee. Derek Miers is the PR Chair for the BPMI-SC. He is also leading another standards initiative under BMIDTF to facilitate better process optimization.

The WfMC is an independent standards organization focusing on the needs of the workflow and BPM community. The main standard it drives is the XML Process Definition Language 2.0 (XPDL).

BPM-Focus has strong representation at these groups - providing an outreach mechanism and an opportunity for individuals to gain access and influence the development of standards.

Derek Miers is the BPMF ambassador to OMG, and as such will function both as the conduit of relevant information from OMG and as your analyst on the BPM landscape. This unique industry partnership will enable you to stay in touch with (and contribute) to BPMI's ongoing work, which will continue within the OMG's framework.
